How to fix five Windows 10 headaches Microsoft's latest OS is a lot better than its predecessor, but it still has some annoying quirks. We help you solve them. Microsoft Windows 10 has gone a long way towards fixing the problems that were endemic with earlier versions of Windows -- notably  Windows 8 . But it's still far from a perfect operating system and has its share of headaches. Looking through various user discussions (and tapping our own experiences) we've identified five problems that a lot of people are complaining about: forced Windows 10 updates; the Cortana digital assistant (which some users want to get rid of and can't); lost disk space; sluggish boot times; and problems with the Start menu. Google Play faces cat-and-mouse game with Android malware What’s the best way to avoid Android malware? Downloading all your apps from the Google Play store -- where software is vetted – is perhaps the best advice.   But that doesn’t mean Google Play is perfect. Security researchers do find new Android malware lurking on Google’s official app store. A day after news of  Samsung’s smartphone dock broke , the US Patent office has approved an Apple patent to use the smarts in the iPhone or iPad in a “dumb” MacBook dock. Unlike the Samsung dock, which adds ports to a Samsung smartphone but no extra keyboard, the Apple idea for the iPhone and iPad is a more complete computing solution. While some patents, by the time they are approved, show ideas that are several years old, this latest patent by Apple was only lodged about the time Apple released the iPhone 7 last year. Apple has been granted a patent for the  “Electronic Accessory Device”  that would drop an iPhone into the keyboard of a MacBook-style dock, so that the iPhone screen becomes the...
